Zsolt Bálint wins the Man of the Year 2023 award

Our management has always acknowledged that our employees are the reason for the development of our Group. We could not have achieved our success without the effective work and loyalty of our staff. Our colleagues delivering extraordinary personal performance receive the Man of the Year Award, the most important moral honour of our company, which is granted at the year-closing Christmas dinner. The Group has a ten-year tradition of nominating candidates by the management and deciding on the most suitable person for the award. The award is not only a recognition, but also an incentive for staff performance.  Employer branding has also been a priority for our Group for many years, because we know that human resources are one of the greatest assets behind success. LATEREX's Board of Directors chose the Chief Engineer of the Dunakeszi Student Quarter project as "Man of the Year" in 2023. In September, Zsolt Bálint also won the Engineer of the Month Award from Magyar Építők (Hungarian Constructors).

Zsolt Bálint has been with our company for two and a half years, where he leads Hungary's largest educational investment with our consortium partner as Chief Engineer. Zsolt started his career in civil engineering after graduating from the Faculty of Earth and Environmental Sciences and Engineering at the University of Miskolc. He immediately managed to join the M4 metro construction project, a dream came true. With humility, he began to absorb the practical elements of the profession that were essential to his success. Immediately after this project, life offered him a special opportunity: he travelled to Cairo as part of an international team to help restore an underground tunnel collapsed in an earthquake. This mission lasted almost a year, after which he started working as a construction manager at home. He was driven by an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.  He has had the opportunity to work with highly qualified professionals from whom he has learned a lot in his day-to-day interactions. They inspired him to acquire additional knowledge, skills and experience, so he tried to open up from civil engineering to building construction.

You came into contact with us in an unusual way in early 2021. He noticed one of our construction sites in Piliscsaba, which he liked very much. He contacted our management and applied to us. "It was a great honour and motivation for me to be assigned to prepare the Dunakeszi Student Quarter project, which was just starting. During the construction process, they faced many challenges and came up with some impressive solutions. I could see there that I had made the right decision: the creativity and professionalism of the team was very attractive to me."

The project is being carried out by LATEREX Construction Zrt. in a consortium. An engineering office has been set up to carry out the project.

"The engineering office is in charge of managing the construction and monitoring the budget. Together, the team selects subcontractors, coordinates with the designers, liaises with the authorities and the client. Together with the consortium project manager, we manage a team of 25 people and the project's subcontractors. In total, we coordinate the work of more than a thousand people. ... I would like to thank the management of LATEREX for the opportunity and the trust they have placed in us. I am grateful to be able to prove my skills on the largest secondary school project in the country, the so-called model project of the Dunakeszi Student Quarter" - Zsolt explains in the Engineer of the Month interview.

"The Man of the Year" award recognises not only a year's work, but also a professional journey and career. The management assesses results, attitude, skills, willingness to learn and the transfer of company values. The charismatic leader shows directions and, thanks to his personality and professional knowledge, his team follows him almost without question. ... The award also helps create and maintain a positive workplace atmosphere. We believe that a company that appreciates and recognises the efforts of its employees can not only increase loyalty, but may also be more attractive to talented professionals" - emphasised Edit Czétényi-Veres, HR Manager.
